Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
- As part of the submission process, authors are required to verify that their submission complies with all of the items listed below. Submissions that do not comply with the rules will be returned to the authors.
- The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, this should be justified in "Comments to the editor".
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word format, and both doc and docx formats are accepted.
- The file should not contain author data, either at the beginning of the text, in notes, or in the file information, to ensure blind evaluation.
- URLs for references have been provided when possible.
- The text is 1.5-spaced; uses a 12-point font; uses italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses);
- Figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document as attachments.
- The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the Guidelines for Authors, on the About the Journal page.
Ensuring a blind review
Files must be devoid of authorship information, whether in the pre-textual parts, in the body of the text, or in the information in the file itself.
Here is how to proceed to ensure blind review:
- Open the document to be submitted in Word;
Access the [File] menu;
Choose [Information];
Choose [Prepare for Sharing];
Click on [Checking for Issues] -> [Inspect Document] -> [Yes];
Choose from the various checkboxes available only [Document Ownership and Personal Information];
Click on Inspect, then choose [Remove All];
Save the document and close it.
Text rules
For Articles
Articles must be in Microsoft Word format (doc or docx), Times New Roman 12 font: articles must be between 15 and 25 pages long (approximately between 40,000 and 60,000 characters with spaces), including abstracts and bibliography. Longer texts will be evaluated by the Editorial Team and this registration is requested upon submission, in “Comments for the editor”.
Note 1: Authors should be aware that the use of certain images may occasionally imply the search for a statement or authorization for their use.
Note 2: It is recommended, whenever possible, to use transliterations in the texts, leaving the use of special characters (Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese and Tibetan fonts or other languages) only for cases in which there is a study of the original. In this case, please make a comment to the editor to ensure the formatting of the sources. The texts must follow the following configuration specifications:
- The page layout must be configured on A4 paper, with the top and left margins set at 3 cm and the bottom and right margins at 2 cm.
- The texts must use Times New Roman or Arial font in size 12 pt, with line spacing of 1.5 and indentation of 1.25 cm in the first line of the paragraphs.
- The article must have a centered title, in bold, size 14, followed by an abstract of 150 to 200 words, presenting clearly and concisely the theme of the work, the objectives, the methodology used and the conclusions, and between 3 and 5 keywords indicating the content of the article, separated by semicolons. After the Portuguese version, this part must be repeated, with the title and abstract in English, followed by the keywords, as well as the title and abstract in Spanish, accompanied by the palabras clave. It is requested that the translation be done by the author himself, and not by automatic translation systems, such as Google Translator. This part must be single-spaced, without indentation on the first line and font size 11.
Note: if the article is in another language (those indicated above), there must be an abstract in Portuguese after the abstract in the original language. The content of the text must be divided into topics and, eventually, unnumbered subtopics, in bold, without indentation on the first line.
The topics of the development are freely assigned by the author and must be preceded by the “introduction” and followed by the “final considerations” and the list of “references”. Long quotations (with more than three lines) must be transcribed in a separate block from the text, with a left indentation of 4 cm from the margin, justified, with the same font as the text, in size 11, spacing 1.0 and WITHOUT QUOTES. Short quotations (up to three lines) should be transcribed in the text itself, in the same font and WITH QUOTES.
All citations used in the text should be included in the text itself, in the format (Author's last name, Year, page), in accordance with ABNT standard 10520, of 2023, as in the example: (Alves, 2020, p. 10). We encourage authors to be cited in the text by their first name in order to highlight women's work.
For more details on citation formatting, see the full standard: https://www.normasabnt.org/citacoes-abnt-nbr-10520-2023/
Latin expressions such as idem, ibidem, opus citatum should not be used in cases of repeated references.
Citations with more than one author should indicate the surnames of all authors, but if there are "four or more authors, the first author may be cited followed by the expression et al., although all authors may be included in the reference" (ABNT, 2018, p. 6). For more details on how to make a reference according to ABNT, see the full standard: https://www.normasabnt.org/nbr-6023/
Bibliographic references should be inserted at the end, following ABNT 6023* standards, updated in 2018, and only for works effectively cited in the article, as per the examples:
* In ABNT, the first name may appear with only the first letter. However, we request that the first name be included in full, to give visibility to the gender of the author, as per the model and examples below.
